Uptown Foody Weekend

The weekend has been hectic - roaming around the uptown places in mumbai - I think I have begun to like the place. It is nice and warm. Great to see people so prim and propah', whether it is a teenager or a elderly woman, everybody seems to have a knack for looking good.
Friday morning shopped around Bandra Linking road - 3 purses, 1 sandal, and 2 good belts, very different looking. Also a long beaded mala (something I wanted to buy, after I saw Rani Mukherjee wearing it in babul, with her Sabyasachi dress code.) In the night, Sandy (the guy who shares the apartment with Manish) insisted we go to 'Mahesh' - a seafood cuisine, speciality being pomprets, crabs and prawns. Loved the dry pompret slices for snacks and the vijaywada pompret preparation. Not to forget the special panwala selling simplest of paans at Rs. 15. (Delhi is lot cheaper when it comes to paans). Saturday morning, we went towards lower parel, which has a huge shopping arcade, with some real good eating joints. Ate nice dimsums and lamb with honeychilli sauce. (I think I am gonna try this honey chilli thing as a concoctions soon, it never struck me but I am sure it would make a great cocktail.) Sandy had a tough time taking care of Mili, who completely freaked there. The icecreams at 'Natural' are worth a mention, with crispy delicious cones.
In the evening, we shopped in Qorum - bought a denim skirt and a pair of blue jeans for mili and a nice summer top ( Offlate, madam only wants to wear blues...and jeans and if I make her wear a skirt, she insists mumma wear a dress too.) Have been doing a lot of photography as well - clicked two portraits of street side kids, which came out awesome. Went to Juhu beach, saw it from a distance and came back. While coming back, went to 'Inorbit' - a huge mall with lifstyle, Spencers, and Shooper's stop, all in one, checking for a parlour (I am so upset with my hair and by all means want to get into a new hair do). Unfortunately, after going up and down from ground to first floor 4 times, I got to the parlour only to know that there was no booking left. Have an appointment today at 5, though I wonder how would I go in the evening. We still have been debating whether to go to Alibaug today or to join some cruise party here (the US clubparty does not allow kids and we are not game to the idea of living mili at mamaji's place on the new years eve and go dancing in a pub or something ...would rather stay home and party at home.)
Today we plan to go to Worli and Colaba around noon - see around the places...Manish and Sandy are gone to play squash, after which they intend going for a swim...got about 2 hours before we leave home...I guess I can get back to my book until then....before I started writing, I was almost at the 220th page of the book "A man named Dave". Interesting book, story of a child who was brutally treated by his mother and called "It' by her...how he overcomes tough times, basically a story of triumph and forgiveness...how he fulfils his dreams to become an In flight boom operater in the Air Force.
I am just writing for the heck of writing, capturing every moment spent here, so to remember after years, what Mumbai was all about. Life is at peace for now...though mind struggles every minute for what it is and what it can get you to be...I guess thats the way it is always...for people like me...the last day of the year, I don't want to remember what happened yesterday, instead, I want to think of what lies in my tomorrow. I know I will make it. I know I will do justice to this life that I lead. I know I will fight for my dreams. And I know I will live for what I believe in.
All you folks, time to make resolutions, if you haven't already...and time to start afresh, yet another new year, with passion to live and die for. Happy new year and god bless you all. May we all strive to make this world a better place and may we lead lives full of happiness, peace and contentment. Cheers 2007...here we come!
