Mesmerizing Monsoons...

...Last 4 days have been complete monsoon days here in Uttranchal. It rains through the night and almost the entire day - with some breaks in between. Tried capturing some rain drops on leaves and flowers...no great results though....but all in all, monsoons always change your mood. They bring back nostalgic moments of the yesterdays. Well, not to say that yesteryears are not in mind anyways...
The beautiful grey skies, with a tinge of dark and light shades of grey and black, the plants drenched in water droplets, oozing extra ordinarily freshness, birds chirping under the tree and yeah a 'Baya' trying to make that famous nest of its own. (You have got to believe this - I sat for about half an hour the other day just to see it construct that nest...and man, they are just awesome in making those. The finesse with which they knit each and every thread in the nest is worth a mention. And every time, the nests are all alike - as if all of them had been trained into doing it. God, your nature and all creatures amaze me.
Monsoons has brought along lots of hibernating creatures out - atleast I could show Mishi earthworm, snail, frog, toad, and a scorpio. Infact, saw two scorpios yesterday - Ma killed one as it was in their bedroom (Sounds scary right...I was also scandalized for sometime). Needless to say Mishi was damn excited to see all of them which are otherwise printed on the pages of books. I could also show her fruits/vegetables in the plants/trees - mangoes, litchis, guava, lemon, brinjal, lady finger, chili, makkai. Dad and Ma have done a great job in maintaining their flower garden and kitchen garden. I don't think it is really easy at that age to maintain every plant and tree. I guess all oldies are like that - passionate about their work and things.
Yesterday took a round of the outskirts of the town, all by myself in the evening. The first half of the day went by in the bank - opened a joint account with Pa, something that I had been wanting to do for a long time, but somehow, never could do it. Aha, also stitched a green and red lehenga choli for mishi from one of Ma's old silk sarees. I always wanted to make Mishi wear something or other that I would stitch for her...I remember I stitched a purple polka dotted frock for her with MILI embroidered for her. Wonder if I have kept it safe to show my little one when she grows up....infact I have to tell you this...I have also given two pieces to the tailor out here to make suits for her, including duppattas. :-)
So much for the last two days - my early morning walks are in place..even though it is raining, Pa insists that we go, wearing caps. Its fun and I have always loved these walks with him. With a stick in his left hand and Scotch's leash (his pet) in his right hand - I have seen him going for walks for I don't know how many years now...though it was bruno before scotch and Brutus before Bruno. Strange choice of names for the pets, ain't it? Well, all of them were my bets...:-) except Scotch, which was my brother-in-laws.
Besides walks, mangoes, litchis, and green leafy vegetables are also doing the rounds for me. ;-) Net net, am celebrating a real healthy vacation - away from all baddies. (Am sure my doctor would be all too glad. I did not have the courage to respond to your last mail on you know what... I will in time. Just to let you know that I am conscious of the fact. :-))
