Amusement of the sorts...

...sometimes just reading a book can be so goddamn amusing. I started my friday evening with "The devil wears prada" - by the end of the first 9 pages (Chapter 1), I was laughing out loud, giving the maid, aila, and mishi reasons to beleive I had completely lost it. Oh man, the way the lady describes her experience with her "dynamic" boss and her encounters on the road is absolutely hilarious. I have never laughed so much in my life reading a book. Could perfectly relate to it - infact during the initial years of my career, while working for Delhi Midday as junior sub-editor, I would often get the same thoughts in my mind and would almost end up screwing up the reports..not to forget the first christmas at my Boss's (John was his name) place..when I actually ate Turkey .:-) Folks, recommend it for a read. Wish I could carry on reading the book throughout the night, but for couple of my friends who insisted on a TGIF round. I was done with my dinner as well, but not wanting to offend them, I gave them company. I let the book rest in peace for sometime with those last few lines on my mind...which I found even more amusing...
Concluding this short post with those lines (imagine the lady thinking about her boss) - "Maybe she'd die before I got back to work, deciding that now was the time to think about the brighter things in life. But don't want her to die because if she does, I lose all hopes of killing her myself. And that would be a shame."
The devils surely wear Prada, and Gucci, and Ralph Lauren, and Marks & Spencer and so much more.

Good to see you finally reading it. I think I gave it to you almost 2 months back.

That was it... said...

:-) Yeah buddy, I wish I had read it before - never really found that kind of time. But thanks for giving it to me. Infact, all the books that I have from you are worth a read. Trust your choice in literature, completely ;-)
