Hear this out: I get a message on my cell phone “Know what you name means by typing Name (Your Name) to 51515. I was curious and for the first time actually send back an sms to 51515.
What I get is pretty interesting “Hi, you have a keen civic sense and want to help the less fortunate. While you focus on the macroscopic whole you forget the microscopic components. You look at life through rose tinted glasses and the reality saddens you. Your enthusiasm helps you to meet your commitments. You are not very expressive about your feelings.
Now that you have analyzed your name, you can find out the name of your ideal partner. SMS partner to 51515. This was enough for a time pass and I left it at that. What’s wrong with the AOL services – is this the way to earn money?
By the way, each SMS costs you Rs 3.
On various other sites, my name means ‘Advisor” and has a latin origin. It is from a latin word ‘monere’ meaning to advise .And, it is at 694 favorite name lists. There is another meaning from Greek origin meaning Alone (monos in greek). [There is a small story – my name was misspelled by an English teacher in Gangtok, Sikkim. Ever since it is what it is today. I don’t like my name and I wish my parents had stuck to the original one.] My parents kept interesting names….Tony, Goldie, Mona, Abhilasha, Nitin, and Monika – well…we ain’t six…but those are official and pet names for my sister, bro and me. I love my sister’s name – Abhilasha is such a beautiful name.
Going back to the title of my post ‘What’s in a name?’ If Shakespeare was alive, I would ask him what did he mean by that…ofcourse there is everything in a name…;-)

Incidentally, Shakespeare did not forget to put his name after that quote..........yup, lots in a name and the meanings made for wonderful reading.......cheerio
my hindi isn't very good ... but would I be right in saying that your abhilasha is to be named abhilasha?
:)
Actually there is something in a name... i guess the name at times is a reflection of the personality and a lot of time I have seen that happening...
My name Prashant, helps me be what I am... there is a meaning to it and that adds meaning to me too...
And OM, well... I wish I could be even the smallest possible percentage of what is OM all about... and that gives me the fuel...
there is a lot in names...
Right Doc...wonder why he did that...yes, meaningful names are a pleasure to keep. Mishi is also called Aanchal, a name that I like.
Naah Parijat, it ain't my abhilasha...it just won't suit me..it is fit for my sister..;-)
OM, don't know what prashant mean though..but am sure it is something nice in meaning. and OM..well is there a name any better than that?
As to why Shakespeare did that-well, he was human too........and the sweetest sound is always that of one's own name. Always a bit more to names-yours were a revelation...guess mine
